Southern Afghan hound Club Open Show 15-5-05
Venue; Weeks Drive Hall, Slough.


My thanks to the officers and committee of the southern afghan for inviting me to judge at this show. The weather was sunny so I judged outside, although the heat did affect some of the dogs during the day.
Minor Puppy Dog; 4 entries, 1 absent.
1st: Meakes & Morris Andizhan Arael at Cadmore,
Black masked gold 7 months old who is full of quality, handsome head with good dark triangular eyes, good length of neck, well laid back shoulders, good depth of chest well bent stifle, moved freely and covered the ground well.
Will I am sure do well in the future.
2nd: Bunney’s Firos Torran at Zadal
Black masked gold  of  7 months, again full of quality, gave his handler a run for his money on the move.
3rd: Richard’S Andizhan Assyrian.

Puppy dog 7 entries 2 absent
1st : Sawyers’s Massaalah Dhoud
Black and silver, 9 months old with loads of potential. Good head with triangular dark eyes that looked right through me. Long neck, good lay of shoulder, and balancing return of upper arm .Good spring of rib and depth of chest. Well muscled short loin leads into correct fall away at rear with ring tail set correctly. His overall balance and correct front and rear angulation enabled this youngster to cover the ground easily.   Well presented and handled to take best puppy dog and best puppy in show.

1st; Parson’s Amshura the Minstral
At 7 years old this dog is still looking good. Black masked cream with good head and eye. Well laid back shoulder. Good depth of chest, nice ring tail set on low and good rear angulation.Held topline whilst on the move. Covered the ground well.
2nd: Richard’s Severndene Stardom
8 years old again a good balanced dog who looked good for his age.

An absolutely fabulous dog , black and silver of 15 months, full of breed type ,Aloof expression from dark triangular eyes, balanced head with good under jaw and chiselling.
Good reach of neck flows into well laid back shoulders with excellent return of upper arm.
Good spring of rib and deep chest to elbow which were well under. Well muscled short loin, good fall away at rear, into ring tail set on low. Well muscled first and second thighs with good bend of stifle. On the move he has that style of high order and was effortless. Presented and handled well to take reserve best dog and reserve best in show. One who I am sure will do well in the future.
2nd:Winter’s Hashirins Easy Come Easy Go at Tokando
Shaded mask gold of 13 months, good head & eye, well laid back shoulders, correct depth of chest balanced rear quarters, well off for bone and muscle. Moved well.
3rd: Meakes & Morris Firos Cardhill at Cadmore

Black and silver dog of good proportion good head & eye, long neck, good shoulders, good depth of chest balanced rear angulation. Moved well.

Blue dog of 17 months, good proportions, and good shoulder balanced in rear. Shame he was nervous but for his first show he moved well.

At nearly 2 years of age this outstanding black dog just took my breath away, both on the stack and moving. Handsome head with dark triangular eyes .Good length of neck flowes into well laid back shoulders with matching return of upper arm. Good spring of rib into deep chest with elbows tucked under correctly. Short well muscled loin led into good fall away at the rear. With ring tail set low. Well muscled thighs which enabled him to really drive on the move. Good bend of stifle, well let down hocks. He moved effortlessly covering the ground with drive and extension to give that style of high order. He was presented superbly in good muscle tone and coat condition. A real credit to his owner and took top honours today with best dog, best in show. I am sure he will do well I n the future.

Black and tan of 21 months old, again well balanced dog with good head and eye, good length neck into well laid back shoulders, good depth of chest matching rear angulation to front in good coat and muscle condition. Moved well and handled superbly.

Well bent stifle with good muscle tone on thighs, Moves well with level topline. Effortlessly covering the ground with drive and extension. Well handled and presented.

Black dog of good overall balance, nice head and eye good shoulders, and depth of chest, good angulation, moves well.

Shaded masked gold dog of nearly 5 years old nice head shape with good dark eyes, long neck into good shoulders and return of upper arm. Deep chest with good spring of rib, short loin led to good rear assembly with tail set on low correctly. Presented in good coat and muscle tone. Moved well.
2nd: Horner’s Bashanabad Midnight Magic,
Blue dog of 5 and ½ years old , well balanced in outline good head dark eyes, correct front assembly deep chest good rear quarters with fabulous muscle tone, presented and handled well but needs a little more covering on the body.

Self masked masked gold dog with good overall balance .good head shape, good shoulders deep chest with elbows well under. Level topline held well on the move. Good rear angulation well muscled and moved well.

Blue of 8 months who was very mature for her age, .well balanced, good head with correct eye shape, long neck flowed into well laid back shoulders, fair spring of rib into deep chest. Nice well muscled short loin with good rear assembly with ring tail set on low, she moved effortlessly with good drive from the rear. I am sure she will do well in the future.
2nd: Callard’s Firos Karrera at Shimonhay
Black masked gold of 7 months who again was full of quality good in head shape with dark triangular eyes, good lay of shoulder, deep chest. good rear angulation just lost out on the move
3rd: Brown’s Kabella Sshimmering Pearl of Palamedees

Shaded masked gold of 11 months, very pleasing in outline with good head and eye, shape, long neck flowed into good lay of shoulder, good spring of rib, nice short loin with good fall away at rear, ring tail set on low well muscled thighs with good bend of stifle, moved with style of high order and was handled and presented superbly. Again a youngster who will do well in the future. Best puppy bitch reserve best puppy in show.
2nd: Fowey, Evans and Hiller’s Mashaalah Faridah at Numa
Shaded masked gold of 9 months, well balanced in outline, has good head and eye, good front assembly and matching rear quarters. Presented and handled well one who will do well with maturity.
3rd: Sawyer’s Mashaalah Anoosheh

1st: Nazer, Gurney and Mallinson’s Galinaka Elaine the Fair, 9 and half years old this shaded masked red is in superb condition. Well balanced throughout. She has a beautiful head with triangular eye shape. Good lay of shoulder with matching return of upper arm.Good spring of rib, deep chest with elbows well under, nice level topline both on the stack and the move. Correct fall away at rear with good tail set. Well muscled thighs and good bend of stifle. Moved well covering the ground as if half her age. Presented in good coat and muscle tone. Handled well . A pleasure to see this girl in such super form.
2nd: Kirwans and Keree- Bartolo’s Hamide Arwen Fatinat Al Sjark at Padaki (IMP)
Black masked gold of 9 years, good overall balance, nice head and dark triangular eye shape. Good lay of shoulders, good depth of chest, rear angulation balancing to front, moves well .I just preferred my winner on the day.

Now nearly 11 years old, this lady is a picture of health in good muscle tone and good coat. Very refined lady with good head and eye, good lay of shoulders matching return of upper arm. Deep chest with elbows well under. Short loin into good fall away. With correct tail set. Good bend of stifle well let down hocks. Covered the ground well keeping her topline on the move. A real credit to her owner.
2nd:Thompson and Truckles Sanomyca Rosasharn
Again nearly 11 years old, this black masked red lady was in superb condition. Good head and eye, good lay of shoulders deep chest with short loin. Good rear angulation. Moved well. .

Black of 15 months well balanced throughout with good head and eye shape. Good lay of shoulders, deep chest with elbows well under. Short well muscled loin into good rear assembly with tail set low. Presented and moved well.

Black of 21 months, a real nice lady to go over. She is both refined and elegant but could go and do a days hunting if needed. Good head and eye. Well muscled thighs with good bend of stifle. Well let down hocks she has superb muscle tone and moved effortlessly covering the ground. Presented and handled well to take reserve best bitch.

Nice well muscled short loin into good fall away with ring tail set low. Well muscled thighs with good angulation and bend of stifle. Well set let down hocks .On the move this bitch shows how correct construction gives good effortless movement, she covered the ground   well. Superbly presented and handled to take best bitch and best opposite sex in the challenge.

Black masked cream bitch of 3 years. She was beautifully balanced throughout good head and eye shape. Long neck again flowing well laid shoulders .good deep chest with elbows well under. Short well muscled loin good fall away with ring tail set on low. Good angulation complementing front, moved again effortlessly and was presented well.
