Afghan Hound Club of Scotland Open Show 11th June 2011.

My thanks to the officers and committee of the club for their hospitality on the day of the show. Unfortunately they could do nothing about the weather or the absentee levels on the day, however I enjoyed my day with the club and I was pleased with the quality of the dogs in my final line up.

1st Mr & Mrs B.J. Mc Phillip’s Tulak The Navigator At Dargai.
Eight month old black masked gold dog who is full of quality and shows great promise for the future. He is well balanced throughout and maintains his balance on the move. Masculine head with a profusion of puppy whiskers and a dark triangular eye shape giving an aloof play full expression. Head carried well on the move by a long well muscled neck. Well laid back shoulders with good return of upper arm which allowed good extension in front on the move. Deep chest with good spring of rib and short well muscled loin. Ring tail set on low and carried out on the move. Well muscled rear with good bend of stifle. He moved effortlessly across the ground with style and I am sure he will mature well. Presented and handled well. Best Puppy Dog and Best Puppy In Show.

Short well muscled loin, ring tail set slightly higher than I would prefer. Well muscled rear quarters and good bend of stifle which allowed him to drive well from the rear and cover the ground effortlessly. Presented in good muscle tone and handled well.

1st Mrs C & Miss L O’Donnell’s Javidan Dirty Little Secret Sh CM.
Four and a half year old blue/black dog. He was well balanced throughout, also having superb muscle tone and a gleaming coat. More refined than the other dogs today but he has plenty of breed type. Head was in proportion to his body with good expression and carried well on the move. Well laid back shoulders with good return of upper arm allowing good front extension whilst moving. Chest deep with good spring of rib, short loin with tail set on low. Good bend of stifle covered with strong muscles to allow drive from the rear. Well let down hocks. Pleasing both on the eye and to go over him he moved stylishly with ease over the ground. Best Dog and Best Opposite Sex in Show.

1st Mr B & Mrs BJ Mc Phillip’s CH Tulak The Patriot at Dargai ShCM
Ten and a half year old black masked gold grizzle dog who I have always admired and a real pleasure to go over him as he is such a gentleman and full of breed type, I could easily have taken him home. Masculine head with powerful under jaw. Aloof expression from dark triangular eyes and exquisite chiselling. Well laid back shoulders with good return of upper arm. Deep chest with good spring of rib and well muscled short loin. Ring tail set on low and carried out on the move, well bent stifles and good muscle tone for his age. Overall a well balanced dog who was in superb condition for his age. On the move he was showing his age a little against the youngsters in the challenge but he still covered the ground with style, maintaining a level top line at all times and pushed hard in the challenge. 1st Miss J Leitch’s Khamis T’Pau.

Eighteen month old gold brindle bitch and my find of the day. I fell in love with this young lady as soon as I saw her enter the ring and going over her was a real pleasure as she was full of breed type. A picture of balance both stacked and on the move and presented in first class condition, a real credit to her owner. She had an exquisite feminine head with strong under jaw, dark triangular eyes, good chiselling giving an aloof expression. Long well muscled neck carried the head proudly on the move. Well laid back shoulders with good return of upper arm enabling good extension from the front. Deep chest to elbows with good spring of rib. Short well muscled loin with ring tail set on low and carried out on the move. Good bend of stifle to rear with good muscle tone and well let down hocks. On the move she maintained a level top line and covered the ground with style easily, driving well from the rear. One I am sure will do well in her show career and to watch in the future. Four and a half year old brindle bitch. Another fabulous bitch to go over, full of breed type and balanced throughout. Presented in immaculate condition both in her gleaming coat and good muscle tone. She had an exquisite head which was balanced to her size with an aloof expression from those dark triangular eyes and chiselling on the sides of her head. Long well muscled neck flowed down to well laid back shoulders and deep chest with good spring of rib. Short loin with ring tail set on low. Well bent stifles well covered with muscle and well let down hocks. She moved effortlessly over the ground extending well in front and with plenty of drive from the rear. Presented and handled well. Pushed hard in the challenge at the end but was just piped at the post as I preferred the more compact shape of my two winners in the final line up.
